Hebrew pronunciation: names and natural phrasing

For Hebrew songs: what to check when the spelling is right but the singing sounds different.

Why can pronunciation vary?

This guide is for songs with Hebrew lyrics. In Hebrew, the same string of letters can be read in several ways, and in singing the rhythm and melody also affect the syllables. Kleep adds processing layers and automatic nikud (vowel marks) for Hebrew, but mistakes can still happen. Correct text doesn't guarantee that every word will be sung exactly as you imagined.

Write Hebrew lyrics as usual; nikud is added automatically.

Start with natural phrasing

Read the line out loud and replace a clumsy sentence with clear, spoken Hebrew. Check that masculine and feminine forms agree, and singular and plural too. With unusual names, numbers and abbreviations, make the context clear. If a name gets swallowed in a crowded line, try a shorter sentence or a slower style.

When should you add nikud yourself?

You don't need to add nikud to the whole song in advance. If an unusual name or word keeps being read wrong, you can add nikud by hand to that one word. For example, a name that can be read two ways deserves a special check. Listen to the result, and don't rely only on the text you see.

Can I fix just one syllable?

Right now there's no tool that guarantees a spot fix while fully keeping the performance. A remix produces a new take and costs more credits. So it's worth checking the lyrics before you create, and listening to the second version too before starting over.

Reporting helps us improve

The one-click option in the player for reporting a Hebrew mistake only appears when the site is set to Hebrew, on songs with Hebrew lyrics. If it's there, use it. When you contact support, include a link to the song, the approximate time and the word that sounded wrong, and explain how you wanted it read. Don't just write "the Hebrew isn't good", because a precise example helps identify the problem.
