Download songs to your computer or phone
What you need to download, what file you get, and where to find it.
Who can download?
MP3 downloads are available with an active Premium subscription, or for 30 days after you buy a credit pack. You need to be signed in to the account you made the purchase with, and guests who aren't signed in can't download. Your credit balance and your download access are two different things: you may still have credits after your download window has ended, and credits from a sign-up bonus, inviting friends, or a subscription that has ended don't unlock downloads. Gift a song orders include a download as part of the order.
Downloading step by step
Open the song from your Library, the player, or the song page, and wait until the audio is ready. Each version appears as a separate song, so make sure you've opened the one you want. Click the three-dot menu (More) and choose Download. The file is saved as an MP3 with the song's name. In a desktop browser, check your downloads folder; the exact location depends on your browser and settings. On iPhone and iPad, including in the app, the system share sheet opens, and from there you can save the file to the Files app. If the share sheet doesn't open on the first tap, tap Download again. Open the file to make sure the right version was saved.
Which formats are available?
Songs download as MP3. WAV files and separate tracks, known as stems, aren't currently available for download. A lyric video is a separate video file, and making one requires Premium. Being able to upload a WAV in Sounds mode doesn't mean you can download a WAV.
Seeing an upgrade prompt?
Make sure you're signed in to the account you bought with, and that your subscription is active or your pack was bought within the last 30 days. If the audio is still being produced, wait until it's ready. If you do have access and the download still fails, contact support with a link to the song, your device type, and a screenshot of the error message.
Downloads and usage rights
Being able to download is a product permission. Our personal and commercial use policy is set out in the Terms of Service, and it isn't determined only by your plan or by whether you see a Download button. Read the rights guide before distributing a song commercially.
