Concrete Dreams

Subway rumble underneath my feet Notebook full of verses, pen and a beat Mama said go far but never forget Where the sidewalk cracks is where the dream was set Concrete dreams, growing through the cracks No matter how they push, we keep pushing back Vinyl crackle, jazzy piano keys We turn the struggle into melodies Brownstone steps where the elders sit Wisdom in the stories that they kick Every block a chapter, every face a page I'm just writing history, turning the page Concrete dreams, growing through the cracks No matter how they push, we keep pushing back Vinyl crackle, jazzy piano keys We turn the struggle into melodies Look how far, look how high A flower in the concrete reaching for the sky
